We're taking a break from the velvet rope.

After two seasons of performing at New York's hottest and most exclusive venues or private events, we decided to put together a show that focuses on what we enjoy best: making magic with great people. No pretense, no jaded attitudes meant to impress, August Magic: Community is a project that we are genuinely excited about. We will provide a place where you can truly relax and enjoy yourself, without having to worry about impressing some onlooker's critical eye.

The exodus from Abracadabra and a general lack of new spaces has also left a void in the New York magic community - performers and audiences alike have been left with few options. We believe that in creating this environment we will foster a new era for magic in New York - by building the community we will provide a venue that can nurture new talent and take seasoned experience to new heights. And audiences will not only be privy to it, but they will actively be part of the process.

So when BlockParty approached us about doing a show with Frankie's Restaurant, we welcomed the possibility. Frankie's suits the project very well - the staff is a warm and friendly, very diverse, and the restaurant is simple, tasteful, not extravagent, but the food is quite good. And we love Terry, the owner. We are very glad to work with Frankie's and BlockParty as we build a new community of magic back in Manhattan.
